It can be used to decode infrared signals from remote controls such as TV remote or some RC vehicle remotes. It is designed to be reliable and easy to use. The infrared sensor is just the sensor so you will need to connect it to the appropriate output and input pins on the Arduino or Raspberry Pi for it to function. It has only 3 connections: power, ground and signal out.
